Joel Forbes is an accomplished master of the acoustic bass who has held a place on the New York jazz scene for 25 years. This talented musician shares venues with notable artists such as Dan Barrett, Joe Cohn, Harry Allen, Scott Hamilton, Grant Stewart – and many others who appreciate his big sound, swinging beat and keen harmonic sense.

Joel’s schedule keeps him busy in and around his native New York as well as traveling coast to coast, most recently with Frank Vignola's Hot Club USA and Dan Barrett's Blue Swing. He has achieved international recognition on tours that have taken him throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan and Tahiti.

Joel was featured with The Harry Allen / Joe Cohn Quartet at Umbria Jazz, Melbourne, Australia; and with Dan Barrett’s BED at The Sweet and Hot in Sacramento, Calif. He has also traveled to Umbria Jazz, Perugia, Italy; and the Oslo Jazz Festival. Joel has led his own quintet for two-month-long stints at the Guggenheim Museum’s World Beat Jazz Series in New York City.
