John Orsini - Saxophone
Saxophonist John Orsini is currently a full-time member of the Disney World Sax Quartet
and resides in Orlando, Florida. He has worked as a musician at Disney for the last 25 years
while continuing to actively participate in the local jazz scene. He has appeared with a number
of jazz artists, including Clark Terry, Red Rodney, Chubby Jackson, Don Lamond, Johnny
Varro, Dick Hyman, John Clayton, and Mousey Alexander. He was a member of the festival
big band at the Sarasota Jazz Festival for a number of years. John is currently a member of
the Bob Crosby Bob Cats, under the direction of Eddie Metz, Jr. He is also the leader of
his own "swingtet" and a member and one of the organizers of the brand new Orlando Jazz
Orchestra.
John traveled extensively with the Glenn Miller Orchestra (under the direction of Peanuts
Hucko) and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra (under the direction of Murray McEachern). He
holds a master's degree in music from Kent State University.
Working with Terry Myers, Eddie Metz, Jr., and Eddie Higgins on the Zoot and Al Tribute
Band has been a labor of love. It is their hopt to pay homage to the spirit of swing and joy that
Al and Zoot brought to each performance.
